What Helps or Hinders the Partnership?

The key conditions will always help this partnership.

  • Being closed minded when dealing with something that the educator/parent does not agree with can hinder this partnership.

  • Often times, what a parent does at home and what is done in the kindergarten will be different, but it is important to understand that it is their child, not the educator’s. This can cause frustration, but it is important to overcome conflicting ideas and work together with the parent and find a solution.

  • General disagreements between educators and parents can occur. This must lead to conversations and/or meetings to find common ground.

  • Open communication is helpful and key to a positive partnership (Rosenberg, 2003).
